Plop

Privacy policy

Updated 27 September 2026

Your diary never leaves your phone.
We never see your visits or your health data.

Who we are

Plop is made by DOT.MOV Limited, company number 14819589, registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the small amount of data described below. Contact us through our contact form.

Your diary

Visits, times, durations, Bristol types, flags and notes are stored on your phone only. There is no account and no Plop server. Plop does not sync your diary to iCloud or Google Drive, and the Android app is excluded from Android backups. On iPhone, your own device backup may include it, as it does for any app.

Deleting the app deletes the diary. A report for a doctor is only created when you ask for one, and only goes where you send it.

Apple Health and Health Connect

If you link Health, Plop reads daily totals that other apps have logged: fibre, caffeine, alcohol, water, fat, sugar and calories on iPhone; nutrition and hydration on Android. On iPhone, Plop can also write handwashing and gut symptoms to Apple Health.

This data is read and compared on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold. You can change what Plop can see at any time in the Health app or Health Connect.

Anonymous usage

To see which screens and buttons get used, Plop sends a short, fixed list of events to Aptabase, an analytics service hosted in the EU. For example: app opened, screen viewed, a purchase made. Each event carries the app version, phone model, system version, language and a random session number that is forgotten when the app closes. It carries no name, no account, no device or advertising ID, and nothing about your visits or your health.

This is on by default, as UK law allows for statistics with a simple way to object. Switch it off in More, then Privacy, then Share anonymous usage.

Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob in the facts feed. After your first logged visit, Plop asks for your ad choices, and on iPhone Apple asks whether apps may track you. If you agree, Google may use your phone's advertising ID to personalise ads. If you decline, you get limited ads without personalisation.

Ads never receive your diary or health data, and are never targeted on it. Plop Pro removes ads and never loads the ad software. Change your choice any time in More, then Privacy, then Ad privacy choices. Google explains its use of data at policies.google.com.

Purchases and tips

Plop Pro and tips are paid through the App Store or Google Play. They handle your payment. We never see your card details, and we receive only anonymous sales reports.

Links out of the app

The NFC sticker guide links to Amazon, which opens in your browser. It is an affiliate link, so we may earn a small commission. Amazon's own privacy policy applies there.

Messages to us

If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, and keep them to reply and delete them when they are no longer needed. See the DOT.MOV privacy policy.

Children

Plop is not designed for children under 13.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, or object to how we use it. Because your diary and health data are never sent to us, we hold none of it. Use our contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
